*** What hardware do I recommend for students? ***
  • Pentium 100 minimum (for fun stuff the faster the better of course)
  • 32mb RAM is really the minimum with a 1 gb hard disk or larger.
  • Quad-Speed or higher CD-ROM and a 56k modem
  • 15 inch non-interlaced (or larger) monitor
  • a mouse with a wheel or page scrolling device
  • a mouse pad ;)

For a flexible mail service you can access anywhere use Web-Based E-Mail.

Recommended E-Mail for students:

There are other good services. To find one try:
  1. Turn off cookies in your browser.
    (Increase security on your machine)
  2. Search for a free email provider.
    (Type "free email" on the Search Page)
  3. Sign up for the Service.
    (Use your real name; but little else)
  4. Attempt to log in.
    (If you can't you've found a Cookie-Monster - back to step 2)
  5. Remove Outlook Express.
    (Or at least get rid of the shortcuts)
  6. ALWAYS LOGOUT when using email on shared PCs.
    (Protect your privacy)
  7. Hotmail and Yahoo are not recommended by me !
    (Privacy issues)
  8. If you do use Outlook...
    Don't use Outlook or other Email Programs
